CE Records

How many hours of CE can I obtain by attending the Conference?
You can earn a total of 24 hours of continuing education if you elect to attend the full Conference and attend all day each of the four days. A total of 6 hours of continuing education can be obtained if you elect to attend only one day of the Conference and attend a session during each time slot offered.

Does the MVC provide a record of the sessions I attend?
If you select sessions to attend during the registration process, this information becomes part of your electronic record with the OVMA.  You will be provided a copy of the selected sessions as part of your confirmation. If you should need another copy after the Conference, please contact the OVMA office.

What can I do to track my sessions if I did not list them during registration or I change my selections at the Conference?
A Record of Continuing Education form will be available in the back of the on-site program. It provides a place to record the date, title, speaker and the number of hours attended.

My state requires signature from the organization that hosts the CE.  How do I obtain a signature?
Fill out the Record of Continuing Education form provided in the back of the on-site program and bring it to the Customer Service window in the MVC Registration area. An OVMA staff person will provide a signature.

Can I use the CE offered at the MVC to fulfill my CE requirements for license/registration renewal?
The Ohio Veterinary Medical Association is a “pre-approved” provider of continuing education by the Ohio Veterinary Medical Licensing Board. As suc,h Ohio veterinarians and technicians can count OVMA-hosted programs towards their Ohio CE requirement. While we can not verify the acceptance of OVMA programs by other state boards of veterinary medicine, the Midwest Veterinary Conference has historically been considered acceptable continuing education by other states. Some states do require the licensee to complete and have signed the CE record form found in the back of the MVC on-site conference program.

Waiting Lists

I registered online for a lab, lunch or workshop with limited attendance. How will I know if I am placed in the program?
You will receive a confirmation specifying which lab, lunch and/or workshop has been included in your registration.

What happens if a lab, lunch or workshop I want to attend is full? Can I be placed on a waiting list?
If a lab, lunch or workshop is full, it will no longer be available to select if you register online. If you want to be placed on a waiting list for a program that is full, simply send us an e-mail us “Wait List” as the subject to request wait list status. Be sure to include the attendee’s full name and the name of the lab in the e-mail.

What if I do not register online? How will I know what labs, lunches and workshops are still available?
If you chose to register via mail or fax, you can still check the MVC Web site as to which programs are still available. Updates regarding which programs are still available, as well as any other changes to MVC programming, will be posted on the Program Changes page. If the one you would like is not listed, you can be placed on a waiting list by sending us an e-mail with “Wait List” as the subject. Be sure to include the attendee’s full name and the name of the lab in the e-mail.

I did not check the MVC Web site before I sent in my registration that included a lab, lunch or workshop. How will I know if I am placed in the program I selected?
You will receive a confirmation by e-mail if an e-mail address is supplied, or by mail if the registration is received by mail or fax and no e-mail address is supplied. The confirmation will list all the sessions you included on your registration form, as well as any tickets purchased and any labs, lunches or workshops you selected. If the lab was not available, it will not be listed on the confirmation. To be placed on a waiting list, send us an e-mail with “Wait List” as the subject, and be sure to include the attendee’s full name and the name of the lab.

Selecting Sessions

Should I include every session I plan to attend when registering?
Signing up for individual sessions when you register helps the OVMA determine room assignments based on the capacity of each session. Sessions listed will also be included in your confirmation, providing you with a detailed continuing education record.

What should I know about registering for labs, lunches and workshops?
The registration form includes a section where you may select which of these programs you would like to attend. Some require an additional fee, and these prices are fixed, so there is no early registration discount. Please note that for these programs, participation is limited and awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis; as such, we advise you to sign up as early as possible.

What educational programs are available to veterinary technicians?
The MVC offers a full four-day program of sessions designed specifically for technicians. For detailed session information, please view the Technician Track. Technicians are welcome to attend other program areas of interest as well.

May technicians and office staff attend DVM CE sessions and Special Programs?
Veterinary technicians and office staff may attend all educational sessions, except for those sessions and/or Special Programs specifically designated for DVMs only, recognizing that these sessions reflect a veterinarian's graduate school training and background.

What programs are available for practice managers and office staff?
The Practice Management and Staff Development tracks offer sessions covering all facets of the veterinary practice, including personnel and staff management, finance, communications, legal, ethics, etc. For detailed session information, please view the CE Tracks.

I would like to sign up for the OVER training (Session 435). Where can I complete the pre-requisite course?
In order to take this session, attendees are required to present a certificate of completion for ICS-100, Introduction to the Incident Command System, or a comparable course. You may complete this course at your convience on FEMA's training site. All course materials and tests are provided on this site.

Notes & Audio Recordings

How do I access the online notes/presentations?
All paid registrants receive complimentary access as part of their registration. The login and password information will be included with your registration confirmation. If you need to retrieve this information, please contact the OVMA office.

Will I be able to obtain any printed notes on-site?
No Conference printing stations will not be available for printing notes on-site. A business center is available in the food court area below the Hyatt.

The notes or PowerPoint presentation for a session I want to review is not listed. How can I get a copy?
If the notes or PowerPoint for a session you are interested are not available online, it is possible that the Speaker does not wish to have his or her notes or PowerPoint published for this Conference. However, the Speaker may not have provided these materials in time to include in the launch of the online access. If this happens, we will add the session materials after the Conference. If you would like to see the notes or PowerPoint prior to the Conference, please send us an e-mail.

Will audio recordings be available for purchase?
Yes, the MVC has partnered with Dove Convention Services, an audio recording company, to capture the audio for sessions in which the Speaker has granted approval to audio record. Dove will have a booth located just outside of Exhibit Hall C in the Greater Columbus Convention Center where attendees can purchase the audio recordings in a variety of formats.
