Dr. Ken Keckler graduated from the Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine in 1991. He began his career at Northfield Park near Cleveland, Ohio, where he treated Standardbred racehorses for 16 years while building a large ambulatory practice with performance horses. As a co-owner of Buckeye Veterinary Service in Burton, Ohio, he has a great staff with four veterinarians who cover much of northeast Ohio. Hunter/jumpers, dressage, pleasure/trail, Amish buggy/work, miniatures and some donkeys comprise the business. The practice focuses on sport horse medicine and lameness, preventative medicine and wellness, as well as covering emergencies. Thorough lameness exams are a priority. Diagnostics, including ultrasound and radiographs, lead to appropriate treatments such as intra-articular injections to improve performance.

Dr. Carrie L. Freed earned a master’s in laboratory animal science from Hahnemann University and completed both her DVM and residency in laboratory animal medicine at The Ohio State University (OSU) becoming a diplomate of the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM) in 2009. At OSU, Dr. Freed provides comprehensive welfare oversight and clinical support for animals involved in biomedical research, teaching, and testing. She serves as the Director of Quality Assurance, where she oversees animal import and export programs. She supports the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and Biosafety Committee (IBC). As a Professor-Clinical in the College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Freed is deeply committed to education and mentorship. She trains laboratory animal medicine residents, veterinary students, and undergraduate learners. Nationally, Dr. Freed has been an active leader within both ACLAM and the American Society of Laboratory Animal Practitioners (ASLAP).

Dr. Aaron Tangeman graduated from the college of veterinary medicine at The Ohio State University class of 1998. Initially specializing in large animal medicine, he transitioned to small animal care in 2004. In August 2010, he founded the Mahoning Valley Veterinary Centre in Mineral Ridge, Ohio, which has since expanded to include three full-time veterinarians. Dr. Tangeman is dedicated to providing outstanding pet care, focusing on client education and exceptional service. His areas of passion include dentistry and orthopedics, while he also enjoys working on preventative care and internal medicine cases.

Dr. Amanda Wagner is a mixed animal practitioner and part-owner at Tri-County Veterinary Service in Anna, Ohio. She received her BS in biology from The University of Findlay and her DVM from The Ohio State University. She is the current President-Elect of the OVMA and co-chair of the MVC Food Animal Education Committee. Dr. Wagner is a past participant of the OVMA’s Leadership Development Program and is a member of the Upper Valley Career Center Veterinary Science Program Advisory Committee. Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Wagner
enjoys spending time with her dogs, participating in outdoor sports, and traveling.

Dr. Bowlin is the founder of Cats Only Veterinary Clinic, the first feline practice in the central Ohio area. Long recognized as an innovative force in feline practice, Dr. Bowlin has lectured and authored articles on feline vaccination, nutrition, medicine, surgery, patient care, lifestyle, behavior, as well as practice management, development, and customer service. As a staunch advocate for quality feline care, Dr. Bowlin has proudly encouraged and supported six other veterinarians in the acquisition of Board specialty certification in feline practice during their employment at Cats Only Veterinary Clinic.

Dr. Leah Dorman is a seasoned veterinarian and strategic leader with extensive experience in animal health, public service, communications, and stakeholder engagement. She currently serves as Director of Outreach and Engagement for Protect
OHIO at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, where she drives statewide initiatives to strengthen the rural veterinary workforce pipeline. Prior to this role, she built public trust as Senior Director of Communications & Consumer Engagement for Phibro Animal Health and previously served as Senior Director of Policy Outreach for the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation, advancing policy development and agricultural engagement across the state. Earlier in her career, Dr. Dorman served as Ohio’s Assistant State Veterinarian, bringing deep expertise in regulatory compliance and animal disease response. Recognized for translating complex scientific issues into clear, credible messages, she is a respected thought leader dedicated to supporting resilient communities and advancing the future of animal agriculture.
